Linking Education and Workforce Development in Lenoir County – Project Update

By CED Guest Author

Published February 23, 2011

Doug Lauen is an assistant professor in the UNC Department of Public Policy and CCP small grant recipient working in Lenoir County.

Gathering administrative data for a longitudinal analysis project is never a quick or easy process. This project is no exception. I have met twice with representatives from UNC General Administration and the NC Community College system to specify which data elements would be useful for the project. To actually transfer the data requires memoranda of understanding, lawyers, institutional review boards, and lots and lots of signatures. No work can proceed without these steps. So far, these steps are proceeding smoothly with no roadblocks encountered. I am hopeful that data analysis can begin within the next few months if all goes well.

Stay tuned for more updates!
