CCP Stakeholder Meeting – Update

By CED Guest Author

Kendra Cotton is a Project Director with the Community-Campus Partnership Program.

On Thursday, July 7, approximately 30 campus and community stakeholders convened in Chapel Hill to discuss how to continue to work together in support of bettering communities in Caswell and Lenoir Counties. Four objectives guided the meeting:

  1. Review CCP program history and accomplishments to date.
  2. Provide an overview/status report of small grant projects completed or ongoing in Caswell and Lenoir counties.
  3. Identify new partnership opportunities.
  4. Develop new projects that meet CCP funding criteria.

This meeting marked the second time that both campus and community stakeholders met jointly to exchange views on the partnership. The point of the day was to begin to identify new CCP projects. Tremendous progress was made toward this goal, though no definitive consensus was met regarding specific project details in either locale. Both community and campus partners did enthusiastically embrace the chance to network with others working within these communities, as there are not many regular opportunities for cross-project communication among stakeholders.
