The Artisans’ Gallery Board Meeting

Kate Mulvaney is a dual-degree Masters Student of Public Administration and Social Work and a graduate student assistant working with the Town of Yanceyville, Caswell County.

The Artisans’ Gallery had its first Board Meeting on Monday, January 25, 2010. The Board consists of many prominent residents of Caswell County. The members of the Board are:

Nate Hall (Chair) – Nate is a County Commissioner and works in financial services. He is an active member of the community and is on the Boards of other agencies within Caswell County.

Odessa Gwynn (Vice-Chair) – Odessa is one of the original members of NC STEP and has worked on the Artisans’ Gallery project from the very beginning. Odessa is an active craftsperson, specializing in crochet and jewelry, and teaches crochet and jewelry classes in Caswell County and Danville, Va.

Lucindy Willis (Secretary) – Lucindy holds a Ph.D in English and is the chef and owner of the Yancey House restaurant in Yanceyville. She won “Best Dish in North Carolina” in 2009 in the NC Dept. of Agriculture’s annual restaurant competition. Lucindy taught at Elon University, UNC-Greensboro, and North Carolina State University. She currently has a weekly column in The Caswell Messenger, Caswell County’s local newspaper.

Margie Badgett-Lampkin (Treasurer) – Margie is the Mayor Pro Tem of the Town of Yanceyville and a retired 3rd grade teacher. She is very active in the community and has been a member of the NC STEP committee and the Artisans’ Gallery committee from the start.

Wanda Hammock (Member-at-large) – Wanda is an attorney and magistrate in Caswell County. She is new to the Artisans’ Gallery project but is very excited to be on board.

The Board discussed numerous topics during their first meeting including the Gallery’s budget, location, and marketing strategy. The Gallery is on a small budget and would like to use innovative methods of advertising that are free and/or inexpensive. The Gallery’s Board is currently soliciting ideas on how to spread the word about the Gallery throughout Caswell County and the surrounding areas.

The Artisans’ Gallery Board plans to meet every second Monday of the month.
