Details on the fate of the Rural Center and plans for the new Rural Economic Development Division at the North Carolina Department of Commerce continue to emerge:

Dr. Pat Mitchell selected as new Assistant Secretary for Rural Economic Development: bit.ly/18ZDmJq

Assistant Secretary Mitchell will oversee the new Rural Economic Development Division, which will incorporate staff working in the Division of Community Assistance and with programs such as NC Broadband, the Main Street program, and the Appalachian Regional Commission. bit.ly/1dmKqnY
